Solar service, repair and rescue, including other people’s systems

Diagnostics, inverter replacement, monitoring recovery, panel cleaning and critter guard. If your installer disappeared, you are exactly who this page is for.

Service & repair

What we get called about

Diagnostic visits are $189, credited in full against any repair we carry out.

Production dropped

We compare your output against modeled expectation, test string by string and module by module, and find the failure rather than guessing at it.

Inverter failure

String inverters typically last 10–15 years. We diagnose, file the warranty claim if it's live, and replace with a compatible unit if it isn't.

Monitoring is dead

Often the system is fine and only the gateway or the Wi-Fi link failed. Cheap fix, and it restores your ability to catch the expensive problems early.

Orphaned systems

Your installer folded. We adopt the system: transfer monitoring, document the equipment, and become the number you call.

Leaks & detach-reset

Roof leaking under the array, or a re-roof scheduled? We remove, reflash and reinstall with fresh warranty coverage.

Critter guard & cleaning

Pigeon exclusion, nest removal, disinfection, and soft-wash panel cleaning that won't void your module warranty.

System rescue

If your installer went out of business

It happens constantly, and it leaves homeowners holding a 25-year asset with nobody to call. Here is exactly what we do about it. A fixed-price program, not an open-ended service call.

  • Full system audit: every module, optimizer, inverter and breaker identified and logged by serial number
  • Warranty status research: we determine what's still covered by manufacturers and register it in your name where possible
  • Monitoring recovery: account transferred to you, alerts routed to our operations desk
  • Condition report: photographs, torque check, IV curve trace, and a written list of what needs attention now versus later
  • Ongoing coverage: the option to put the system on a Mr. Legit Solar service plan

System rescue audit: $389 flat, credited against any repair over $1,000.

“Called four companies about a dead inverter on a system installed by a company that no longer exists. Mr. Legit Solar was the only one that would even come look. Fixed in nine days.”
DWDan WhitfieldHenderson, NV · System rescue
“Our production had been down 22% for over a year and we had no idea. Two failed optimizers. They found it in an hour and the fix cost less than what we'd lost in three months.”

Service FAQ

Repair questions

Yes. Roughly a quarter of our service work is on systems installed by companies that have since folded, been acquired, or simply stopped answering. We charge a flat diagnostic fee, tell you what's wrong, and quote the repair. If it's under warranty with the manufacturer, we'll file the claim for you.

In rough order of frequency: a tripped AC or DC disconnect, a failed optimizer or microinverter on one or two modules, a dead monitoring gateway (production is fine, you just can't see it), inverter fan or capacitor failure, soiling, and new shade from a tree nobody trimmed. Only the last two are things you can spot from the ground.

Our diagnostic visit is $189 and is credited against any repair we perform. Common repairs: optimizer or microinverter replacement $250–$550 per unit installed; string inverter replacement $1,800–$3,400 if out of warranty; monitoring gateway $300–$600; full system re-commissioning $450. Warranty work is usually labor-only.

Yes, though we tell most homeowners they don't need one. Our Watch plan ($9/month) is remote monitoring with fault alerts and an annual production report. Watch+ ($22/month) adds an annual on-site inspection, torque check, one panel cleaning and priority scheduling. Commercial O&M is quoted per site.

Usually. If the original installer is gone, we can transfer ownership of the monitoring site in Enphase, SolarEdge or Tesla's portals in most cases, and get you back into the app. Occasionally the manufacturer requires the original account holder, and we'll tell you when we hit that wall rather than leaving you wondering.

A genuine plague in Phoenix, Las Vegas and Tucson. We install stainless mesh critter guard clipped to the module frames, no adhesive, no drilling, after a full clean-out and disinfection of the under-array space. Typical cost is $9–$14 per linear foot of array perimeter.

Something not working?

Tell us what you're seeing. A number in the app, an error code, a bill that went back up. We’ll tell you what it probably is before we ever come out.
